Lumica started as Pokadöta
— our MVP.
In 2020, around a family table in Limoilou, Québec, we asked a simple question: what if your phone could feel like a disposable film camera again? Buy a roll. Shoot with intention. Wait for the prints. That idea became Pokadöta: 24 or 36 shots, no peeking after the shutter, and 4×6 photographs delivered to your door. We built it in Québec with a local app development company, largely self-funded, and launched it so people could rediscover the joy of photos on paper — not trapped forever in a camera roll. Radio-Canada covered the launch of Pokadöta in 2021. Pokadöta proved the instinct was right. What came next wasn’t just a rename — we rebuilt the product from the ground up, keeping the soul of that first experience and raising the craft.
Today that product is Lumica — the disposable film camera, reinvented. Same promise, sharper execution: film looks you commit to, every frame printed and shipped, no edits, no digital copies of finished rolls. Available in more than 40 countries. Still independent. Still obsessed with putting life back on paper.
From a family MVP to a global direct-to-print experience — we’re just getting started.
